History repeated after five decades when United Progressive Alliance nominee Hamid Ansari was re-elected as Vice President to get a second consecutive term after s. Radhakrishnan.who enjoyed two terms from 1952 to 1962. Mr. Ansari Won with a thumping majority against Jaswant Singh. Ansari Polled 490 and Jaswant was 238 out of 790 members. Ansari was the 14h Vice President of India.

Solar cell study gets IICT Scientist National Award

Prakash Singh, scientist at Inorganic and Physical chemistry division
of the Indian Institute of chemical Technology, has been selected for
National Academy of sciences(NASI) “Young Scientist Platinum Jubilee
Award”. He award for his research in Solar cell study. He has developed a
novel type of organic chemical that achieved a record photovoltaic
efficiency in Dye Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSC). The chemical increased
the efficiency of DSSC to a record 11.4 per cent, breaking the record
set five years ago.
Nasin Zaidi is New Election Commissioner
Former
Civil Aviation Secretary syed Nasin Zaidi has been appointed as
Election Commissioner on 31 July 2012 and took charge as a member of
poll panel on 7 Aug 2012. He fills the vacancy that was created in the
3-member election commissioner(CEC). S.Y.Quraishi and the elevation of
V.S. Sampath as a head of Poll Body. H.S.Brahma is other commissioner.
Himachal Bagged top slot in Environment Index
Environment
Performance Index(EPI)-2012 compiled on July Month.According to this
Survey Report conducted across all 28 states and 7 Union territories,
the EPI ia an Indication of the ” Environmental well-being of a state”.
Himachal bagged first and Andhra Pradesh bagged Second. The rankings,
the report added, have been decided based on five broad parameters: air
pollution, forests, water quality, waste management and climate change.
All these categories carry a net score of 1.AP’s environment is among
the best kept in the country and its drinking water quality better than
most other states in India.
