“The Madhya Pradesh government claims to have launched the country’s first ever river-lake linking project in the water-scarce Bundelkhand region. The Harpura irrigation and river-lake link project, launched in the Tikamgarh district, will be implemented under the Center’s Rs.7266 crore Bundelkhand package. It will link the perennial Jamni river to the nearby lakes and water bodies built during the Chandel era. Under the project, an additional 1,980 hectares of land are expected to come under irrigation.

World Bank projected Indian Economy to grow by 6.9 Per Cent in the Financial Year 2012-13
The World Bank in its report named Global Economic Prospects released on 12 June 2012, projected Indian economy to grow by 6.9% in the financial year 2012-13. The World Bank report predicted India’s growth increasing to 6.9 per cent, 7.2 per cent and 7.4 per cent in fiscal years 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15, respectively.
India’s Exports dropped by 4.16 Per Cent at 25.68 Billion Dollar in May 2012
As per the export-import data released by the Commerce Ministry on 14 June 2012, India’s export dropped by 4.16 per cent at 25.68 billion dollar in May 2012. The falling exports figure was largely attributed to slump in global demand of goods and contracted industrial growth in the country. Imports also registered a decline of 7.36 per cent at 41.9 billion dollar. The trade deficit figure also shrank to 16.3 billion dollar during the May 2012, from 18.5 billion dollar in May 2011.

Indians’ money in Swiss banks may have risen for the first time in five years, but they account for a meagre 0.14 per cent of total foreign wealth deposited there — putting India at 55th place globally for such funds.The total overseas funds in Switzerland’s banking system stood at 1.53 trillion Swiss francs (about Rs. 90 trillion) at the end of 2011, which included 2.18 billion Swiss francs (Rs. 12,700 crore) belonging to Indian individuals and entities.While India accounted for only 0.14 per cent of total foreign money in Swiss banks, the U.K. accounted for the largest share of little over 20 per cent, followed closely by the U.S. with about 18 per cent.

The central government, on 13 June appointed Dr K.C. Chakrabarty as deputy governor of RBI, “for a further period of 3 months beyond June 14,2012,or until further orders,which ever is earlier .”the RBI said in a release.                                        Mr.Chakrabarty was appointed as Deputy governor in 2009 for 3 years and took charge as deputy governor of RBI on June 15,2009,it added.

US Appoints Envoy To Myanmar
For the first time in 22 years, the US has appointed its ambassador to Myanmar as part of efforts to upgrade ties with the country which has launched a slew of democratic reforms after five decades of authoritarian rule. The appointment of veteran diplomat” Derek Mitchell”, who was till now the Special US Representative and Policy Coordinator for Myanmar, was confirmed by the Senate on 29 June 2012  and he is expected to leave for that country soon.

Darjeeling is likely to be violent again as the high-power committee set up by Mamata Banerjee has recommended inclusion of just five mouzas under the proposed Gorkha Territorial Administration (GTA) sabha against Gorkha Janamukti Morcha (GJM)’s demand for inclusion of 398 mouzas.high-power committee headed by retired justice Shyamal Sen and said that the committee has recommended inclusion of three mouzas from Darjeeling district and two from Jalpaiguri district into the proposed GTA Sabha.
