Pranab, The President  

Pranab Kumar Mukhrjee, 76, was declared elected the 13th president on 22 July 201. The UPA nominee defeated the former Lok sabha speaker, P.A.Sangama, by 3,97,776 value voter. While Mr. Mukarjee polled 3,095 votes(value 7,13,763) Mr.Sangama got 1483 votes (3.15.987). Mr.Mukharjee who will be sworn in by chief justice of India S.H.Kapadia New Delhi on 23 July 2012. Secured 68.12% of the total 10,47,971 valued votes cast by 4.659 members of the state/Territorial Assemblies and parliament. Only the former president, K.R.Narayanan,secured the maximum value votes of 9,56,290(94.97%) When he won in the 1997 election against the former chief election commissioner, T.N.Seshan.In Pranab Mukherjee, India will have a knowledgeable and pragmatic President who is well-versed in constitutional procedures and practices, and who was, until his nomination as a candidate by the ruling coalition, an active politician and senior Union Minister. Unlike Pratibha Patil, who was out of active politics long before she became President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who was a genuinely non-political person in the best sense of the term, and K.R. Narayanan, Shanker Dayal Sharma and R. Venkataraman, who served as Vice-President before they entered Rashtrapati Bhavan, Mr. Mukherjee is making the switch from active politics and governance to the office of President in next to no time. The last time this happened was when Zail Singh moved out as Union Home Minister a month before becoming President in 1982.

Amla Scores Triple, SA in Control,Hashim Amla scores 311 not out as South Africa puts England on ropes at the Oval

Hashim Amla became the first South Africa batsman to score 300 in a test match when he reached the landmark against on the fourth day of the first test at ‘The oval’ on 22 July 2012. Amla was on 311 not out.The triple century scored by Amla in tests is a record in South Africa cricket.

Amla made 311 not out as South Africa made 2-637 declared; a first innings lead of 252.
England were 4-102 at the close, needing another 150 runs to avoid an innings defeat.
Amla and Jacques Kallis (182 not out) batted with relentless concentration and skill as they put on an unbeaten 377 for the third wicket, a record for any wicket in matches between England and South Africa.

Festival teej is being celebrated with joy in Rajasthan on 22 July 2012 . Teej is a major festival of Rajastahan celebrated mainly by women. Teej celebrated the arrival of rain and this year after a long span of heat weather in pleasant and women are celebrating the festival with joy.

Five-Day long Teej Festival begins on Sunday in Jaipur to mark the festival of joy, devotion and cuisines. On Sunday a royal procession of Teej Mata will be started in the evening in Jaipur and various other cultural programmes will also be organized during the festival. Teej festival is an important festival for married women, and much anticipated monsoon festival. It commemorates the reunion of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, after she paid a penance of 100 years separation
