India slips to 169th in world rankings

The world football governing body FIFA released the latest FIFA World Rankings on 5th September 2012 in which India has lost one spot to be now ranked 169th amongst the 209 ranked nations and territories, while within Asia India remains 32nd amongst 46 nations in the rankings.

Smita Shah first Indian-American to serve as DNC parliamentarian

Smita Shah a close supporter of US President Barack Obama, is vice-chair of the Chicago Plan Commission, become the first Indian-American to serve as a Democratic National Convention parliamentarian on 5th September 2012.As per the publically available documents, Smita has been an applauded donor to the campaign of the Democratic Party and Obama.

India falls 3 places to 59th in WEF’s global competitiveness index

India’s ranking declined by three places to 59th position in the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Global Competitiveness Index 2012-2013, due mainly to ”disappointing performance” in the basic factors underpinning competitiveness.Switzerland, for the fourth consecutive year, tops the overall rankings in The Global Competitiveness Report 2012-2013, released today by the World Economic Forum. Singapore remains in second position and Finland in third position.

Andy roddick ended his tennis career

Andy Roddick who is a tennis player ended his career after defeating in the final on 5Sep 2012. He was 30 year old American and 32 tournament titles in his career,led the United States to the 2007 Davis Cup and was the top US player throughout the majority of his career.

Shiksha Ratan Award to A.N.Purohit

A.N.Purohit awarded Ahiksha Ratan Award on the occasion of teachers day by The University of Petroleum and Energy studies for his contribution to the specific subject of  plant physiology, ecophysiology of trees and the environment. He was awarded Padma shree in 1997 by president.
